Choose from a variety of activities that boost the mind-body health of your child, and end your experience with lunch on the farm!
Here are some examples of activities you can include in your custom adventure (activities are adapted to accommodate the ability levels of different age groups):
Pet the chickens and see where they lay their eggs! Meet King Arthur, the Flemish Giant Rabbit! Feed the pond fish and chuckle at the ducks as they go bottom-up in the pond.
Learn what farm animals eat, how they spend their day, and how to take care of them.
30-45 minutes
Climb aboard a hay-filled, wooden wagon and explore the 300 acres of fields and woodlands at Bonne et Belle.
Keep an eye out for the cow herd and their faithful companions, the white egrets.
These two species share a symbiotic relationship—the birds keep the cows free of flies and pests, and cows unearth worms and bugs during grazing for the egrets to eat!
We’ve raised cows on this land for more than two decades.
30 minutes / 15 passengers at a time (larger groups can be divided and rotated between the hayride and another activity)
Our storybook setting at Bonne et Belle makes favorite picture books come alive!
Gather inside the Big White Barn and enjoy a light snack, while you listen to a tale or two about farm and nature characters; then, enrich the storytelling experience with a themed craft or game.
45 minutes / includes a light snack and drink for each child
Connect to the natural world through touch, smell, sound, sight and even taste through playful, guided explorations of Bonne et Belle’s beautiful landscape—build a fairy house in the woods, lie in the clover and watch the clouds, make art with seeds, leaves, twigs and fruit, and so much more!
Nature therapy has been scientifically shown to calm anxiety, increase focus and creativity, and boost immunity.
45 minutes
Caring for plants and feeling the sensory connection to soil and plant life is a powerful experience that has been scientifically shown to reduce anxiety, instill empathy, and improve focus.
Children can choose a plant and a container and pot their new plant buddy to take home!
30 minutes
Wrap up your morning of adventure with lunch on the farm! You can bring your own bagged lunch or relax and let us provide a delicious boxed lunch for your group!
Enjoy a boxed lunch from one of our preferred local vendors with your choice of sandwich/salad, a side, and a dessert. A bottled water or soda is included.
Grab one of our red-and-white-checkered picnic blankets (one blanket can fit 6 adults) and spread it out on the lawn to enjoy your lunch under the big Bonne et Belle sky!
Take a seat at our long farm tables inside the Big White Barn and enjoy your lunch as the breeze blows through across the pasture!
Most American children spend about 5 to 7 hours a day on screen, according to the U.S. Library of Medicine, and if they’re learning remotely, that number can be even higher.
According to the Mayo Clinic, excessive screen time can be linked to obesity, impaired vision, irregular sleep, anxiety, behavioral problems, and impaired academic performance.
Although the range of “optimal outdoor time” suggested by experts ranges greatly— from 20 minutes a day to 3 hours a day or more—all agree that spending time in nature is essential to a child’s health and happiness.
Studies show that children who spend time outside show more creativity, better school performance, higher physical fitness, better sleep, less depression, less hyperactivity, stronger bones, improved eyesight, and a longer, healthier life span.
And of course, the adults who accompany them in nature reap all of these benefits as well!
