Nature and Forest Bathing is a wellness practice of immersing our senses in nature for the health of mind and body.
Scientific studies have shown that Nature and Forest Bathing boosts our immunity, lowers cortisol (a marker of stress), reduces inflammation, and improves cognition and creativity.
This 1.5- hour experience takes place around the farmhouse grounds, ponds and water features at Bonne et Belle.
The paths will be some blend of pavement, lawn, and footpaths on mostly even terrain.
During the walk, your guide will offer a series of invitations, prompts of a sort, for connecting your senses to the natural world around you.
These invitations typically last 10-15 minutes each. Following each invitation, the group will gather for the opportunity to share or simply listen to others’ sharings.
The walk will conclude with a tea ceremony and a light snack.
Check-in is at the White Barn, where a bathroom is available for you at the beginning and end of the walk.
Spending time in nature—even for short periods—has been shown in multiple scientific studies worldwide to lower heart rate, reduce stress, reduce inflammation, and boost immunity—just to name a few benefits!
Here’s what Yale scientists have to say about spending time in nature:
“These studies have shown that time in nature — as long as people feel safe — is an antidote for stress:
It can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self-esteem, reduce anxiety, and improve mood.
Attention Deficit Disorder and aggression lessen in natural environments, which also help speed the rate of healing.
In a recent study, psychiatric unit researchers found that being in nature reduced feelings of isolation, promoted calm, and lifted mood among patients.”
